Langley has two councils, and they run their meetings a little differently. This page covers both, so you can show up (or log in) knowing what to expect. Not sure which one you live under? See City vs. Township.
A heads-up: the City’s 2026 election results are posted, and the Township’s calendar lists an inaugural council meeting, so new councils are starting their terms. The meeting rules below come from each official page, but check the schedule links for the latest dates.
City of Langley
Regular Council Meetings are at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers, on the second floor of City Hall. When a public hearing is needed, it usually runs the same day and starts at 7:00 pm, with the regular meeting following straight after.
You can watch live: the City adds the live link to its meetings table at the start time on the day. Recordings of past meetings sit in the same table, along with agendas and minutes. If you would rather join by Zoom, email the Deputy Corporate Officer at councilmeetings@langleycity.ca with your full name and email address. The email has to arrive by noon on the meeting day, and you don’t need a Zoom account.
Speaking to the City council
The City has two ways to appear, and both use the same request form (it’s on the meetings page):
- A delegation is when you ask council for something. You get 5 minutes, shared by your whole group.
- A community spotlight is when you want to share news about an event or activity. You get 10 minutes.
Send the form to pkusack@langleycity.ca, or mail it to the Deputy Corporate Officer at City Hall. It must arrive by noon on the Wednesday before the meeting, and written material is due by noon on the Tuesday before. Each regular meeting takes up to three delegations and two spotlights, and staff will try, but can’t promise, to give you your preferred date.
Township of Langley
Council meetings are held at the Civic Facility in the Fraser River Presentation Theatre, on the fourth floor. The council calendar lists each meeting with its date, time and location, plus columns for agendas, minutes and video. When we checked, the calendar showed council meetings at 1:30 to 6:00 pm and public hearings at 7:00 to 11:00 pm, so confirm on the calendar before you head out. The Township’s Mayor and Council page links to live council streaming.
Speaking to the Township council
To appear as a delegation, either fill in the online delegation request form, or use the PDF version and email it to legservicesinfo@tol.ca. You can also hand-deliver it to Legislative Services at 20338 - 65 Avenue. The Township’s page doesn’t give deadlines or time limits, so ask Legislative Services if you need them. Its tips: speak clearly, keep it short, and leave time for questions.
Public hearings (Township)
For proposed development applications, the Township holds public hearings. You can sign up to speak online until 6:00 pm on the day, or in person after that. You can also send written comments to legservicesinfo@tol.ca, up to and during the hearing. Once a hearing closes, council can’t take any more input on that item. Legislative Services is at 604-533-6100.
Writing instead of speaking
Not keen on the microphone? The Township’s Mayor and Council page links to mayorcouncil@tol.ca for emailing council. The City publishes a council phone line, 604-514-2800, and its council members page lists how to reach each member.
