How we work

The Hey Langley pledge

The rules we hold ourselves to, so you can trust what you read here.

We pay our own way

Every meal, ticket, coffee and admission is paid for at the regular price. We don’t accept free products, comped visits, media rates or gifts. If a business offers, we decline and we don’t mention it.

We never announce ourselves

Nobody at a restaurant, shop or venue knows a review is happening. We book, order and pay like anyone else. There is no “reviewer” to recognise, because the person writing this is anonymous on purpose.

Nothing on this site is paid for by anyone but us. There are no sponsored posts, no “partner” content, and no links that earn a commission. If that ever changes, it will be labelled on every page it touches, and the pledge will be updated first.

No negative reviews

If we didn’t like a place, we don’t publish a review of it. A place appearing here means we’d send a friend. Scores out of ten separate “solid” from “exceptional”; they don’t go below the line where we’d warn you off. Honest, neutral observations are fair game (“parking is tight,” “go at one, not noon”).

Facts get sources

News, council decisions, development applications, opening hours, contact details: everything factual links to where it came from, usually the City, the Township, the organiser or the business itself. Opinion is labelled as opinion.

Original work, with credit

We write our own words. When we draw on someone else’s reporting or research, we say so and link to it. We don’t copy articles, listings or photos.

Your privacy

No tracking pixels, no ad networks, no selling of email addresses. The newsletter list is used for the newsletter. Submissions are read by a person; we only publish names and photos with the credit you choose.
